Second update in a way too short period of time for me [Apr. 17th, 2006|02:01 am]
Hey dudes, (that's how we talk out here in Cali....except not)

Anyway, I went to a talk today - by Seth MacFarlane, the Family Guy GOD. He was amazing and everything I'd hoped for. He was funny...he showed us a draft episode that won't air until something next year (mwahaha), which was hilarious. One theory was that it was just the atmosphere in the auditorium that made it good. Another was that the censors hadn't gotten to it. No, but seriously, he is amazing. He started with this story about how when he was ten, he wrote a comic strip for a newspaper, and one week had an offensive church one. Something about a kid getting communion and asking if he could have fries with that. Anyway, the parish priest wrote to him to reprimand him, but Seth didn't feel bad. Instead, his reaction was something along the lines of "when I grow up, I want a job where I can insult God EVERY day." Sorry if this offends anyone...but if you've seen Family Guy, you must suspect this of him. There was also this SUPER akward lady who wanted money or something for her brother. She mentioned her brother, who had helped Seth with the pilot, and how the brother had been forgotten after that. Seth handled it well, in my opinion. (I'm sure she disagreed, though.) He was like, "it was a work for hire, and that was very explicit....blah blah blah." He also started out by saying how akward the situation was, which is really the best thing to do in akward situations. Anyway, I'm done babbling about Seth. But notice the first name basis we're on. Pretty cool. Not that I actually talked to him, but you know.

It's funny how having to write a paper is such inspiration for a livejournal post. Why is that? I don't want to write the paper, because I don't like writing....but then I come and write on livejournal. One of the mysteries of life or something.

Ooo, today's Easter. Well, technically yesterday, I guess. Happy late Easter anyway! I'm still trying to get rid of my candy. I have so much, and I've eaten so much. It's bad. Kershena and Nandita are off their no-candy Lent thing (which by the way, was for fun. They're not Catholic. Wierd), so that's good. Though it was fun tempting them. Also, I feel I should mention the dear Jessica L. (I would write your whole name, but that would be sketchy, because then people would stalk you...not that you know anything about that ;) - because she will probably be one of the few people reading this. She hasn't come to see me this weekend though, even though I facebook-wall-posted her to come visit. It made me a little sad, not gonna lie. But it's okay. Not my fault everyone is eating her Reese's Eggs.

Okay, back to the paper, so maybe there will be some glimmer of hope for sleep tonight. Or maybe not. Whatever.

Oh, Otero, sweet dorm, how I love you. Spring break was great staying here...and tonight...having a few people come back.....Andrew, Krystal, Lauren, Jaynie, Patrick, Tommy, Clay, Beth, Britt, Chris, anyone else I forgot.....oh, amazingness. Let's do it again sometime soon, okay?

(no subject) [Nov. 5th, 2005|06:14 pm]
Hey all. Time to update this thing, because I know everyone is dying to know what I've been doing, right? Well, we had our Halloween party last night. Yes, it was November 4th. Fashionably late. No big deal. It was fun though. I dressed up as Dory from Finding Nemo, and a bunch of my friends were other Nemo characters. We were all AMAZING. Pretty much.

Also yesterday, I got to hear the Dalai Lama speak. That was pretty cool. It was a little hard to understand, since he tried to speak English, but he has a really thick accent, and then he kept switching to his language, and I'd get really confused, thinking it was just bad English I couldn't understand, but then his translator would jump in. Crazy. But he was fun. He tried to make a few jokes. Let's see.....he said if no one watched TV, we'd be a boring soceity; he didn't know if believing in reincarnation affected one's life or hope (it was funny - someone asked the question, and he was just like "I don't know"); bald people are better......and the actual Dalai Lama stuff about nonviolence. So that was cool.

I also found a cool major. I bet you've never heard of it. Symbolic Systems. It's like a mix of computer science, linguistics, psychology and philosophy mainly, plus other stuff. Not sure. Anyway, I have to investigate more, but it sounds cool.

Okay, that's all for now, guys. Muah, I love you.

California [Sep. 29th, 2005|02:57 pm]
So I'm finally at Stanford. It's a hoot. I actually have easy classes, hahaha. I was trying to switch them, but came to my senses and think I'm just going to leave them as is and relax. Anyway, I'm taking chemistry, French, a Spanish class on being bilingual, IHUM(a literature analysis required class - bah), and tennis! I love tennis. It's so much fun. And so useful, too. Anyway, I love it here. Last night, we had our first party. Wooo. After our house meeting, everyone that lived here last year came and invaded. In costumes, no less. So fun. And oh yeah! Before that, I went to my R.A.'s RAP CONCERT. Hahahaha. She's awesome, believe it or not. Her lyrics are so witty. And yeah, she's not actually an r.a., but the student that lives here to help us with our essays and stuff. Kind of like an r.a.... It's awesome.

So how can you tell you're at Stanford: ....last night dinner conversation:

-"so blah blah blah" ( that part wasn't important, just trying to establish that people were talking)
-*clink* goes my glass of water against someone else's (on accident)
-"oops" I say
-"What happened?" asks another girl, who didn't see/hear the clink
-"Oh, nothing, just the big bang," I say, refering to the clink
-"Wait....what did you say...?"
-"Just the big bang..."
-moment of silence
-"hahahhahaahah" -everyone at the table upon realization of the so-called joke

so yeah, maybe it's not as funny on paper, but whatever. It was funny to us. And I'm just proud I didn't come up with the big bang joke on purpose, I swear!

.........
Anyway, if I haven't seen you in a while, call me!

Hurricane [Sep. 3rd, 2005|02:01 pm]
Hey, how is everyone doing after the hurricane? Please let me know if you're okay, and what your plans are for school. Just to let you know, I'm okay and staying at my uncle's before I leave for Stanford in 2 weeks.

AIM down [Jun. 24th, 2005|11:08 am]
Hey everyone. I'm back from Mexico. You haven't seen me lurking on AIM, though, because it's broken. You may have noticed it if you got a message from me telling you to go to some link during the 10 minutes or so I was on this past weekend. I thought about getting it fixed, but I leave on June 29th anyway, so it's probably better to start to curb my computer/internet addiction, since I won't have either readily available in Europe. And I'm getting a new laptop when I get back anyway.

And speaking of Europe, I won't be back until September 1st. David will be with me in our apartment. Yay. I still don't have an address or phone number, but I'll be trying to get on a computer to check my email every once in a while. And if you want postcards, etc, leave me your address here or get it to me some other kind of way.

Anyway, that's it, other than me pointing out that I leave REALLY SOON, SO I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE BEFORE I LEAVE AND AFTER I GET BACK, IF YOU'RE STILL AROUND.

Bye! Love you!

The "Sexy Mexy" returns to her home. [Jun. 4th, 2005|11:48 pm]
So I leave for Mexico tomorrow. I'm going with some family, Camille and Bailey. It's not a beach or anything....it's like in the mountains...San Miguel....supposedly some artsy town. I don't know what to expect. But what am I going to do without a computer all week? Holy crap! Hahaha. And yeah, I'm a horrible girlfriend. David gets back Wednesday from Stanford (finally!), but I'll be gone until Friday. Oops. I didn't plan it like that, I swear. After that, I'll be in town 2 or 3 weeks before I leave for EUROPE for 2 months with David. But it's the last time I'll see any of my recently graduated friends, for the most part, since I won't get back until September 1st. I want to see you all before I leave! And juniors...or seniors now, I guess....watch out, I'm going to be harassing you in September! And yes, that means you, Ms. Teague.

Speaking of seniors, I drove with Lexie to Jesuit for the SAT today. I took the French one for placement purposes. Gah, it kicked my ass. But all I needed was a 640, so I think I have a good shot at that. I hope. *Crosses fingers.* I saw my dear cousin while I was in New Orleans, and then Lexie and I went to lunch at Camelia Grill. Hehe, word!

Anyway, I bid you all adieu. I'll be back on Friday. Muah. Much love.

Stanford and David! [May. 6th, 2005|01:33 am]
So I went to Stanford last weekend! It was A-mazing! I stayed with David, and we did lots of stuff together. He had to go make up a physics lab, and his lab partners were in a hurry, so they just did the experiment without reading all the pre-lab stuff, and so it felt SO MUCH like a Zambon lab. Well, not really, because there was actual work involved. But it was close. ...Let's see, what else did we do? Well, I met all his friends, along with a bunch of Stanford admits for next year. Everyone was really great. I can't wait for next year! I'll be at Stanford, and I'll be with David! I'm so excited.

We're also going to Paris/rest of Europe over the summer. It will be wonderful! We'll get to see each other every day...like a normal couple. Oooo. And I told Mrs. Salyer I'd go visit her when I got back and could speak French. Heh, we'll see how that goes.

Anyway, back to my art project.

(I love David.)

I'm a picture whore. [Apr. 26th, 2005|07:15 pm]
Prom was last weekend. It was sooo much fun. Everyone looked sooo amazing. I took lots of pictures, which I am slowly getting online. I just got a photobucket account. http://photobucket.com/albums/y160/natasha09/
I've been putting all my pictures from this year on there. At the moment, I'm up to Mu Alpha Theta state convention. The prom pictures will take a little longer, since I have to scan them into the computer first, since I used disposable cameras that night. And by the way, my scanner is FREAKING OUT right now. I got like 10 pictures, then it died, and these error messages keep coming up. Super pain.

Anyway, back to prom. We started out by meeting at Camille's to take pictures. Schroeder and I had already taken pictures at my house, so I mainly was a picture whore and took everyone else's pictures. Then, it was off to eat at Etoile with out 3 tables of prestige. Garic kept complaining that he and Jessie were at the leprosy table. Haha. It didn't help that for some reason our service was also way better. Anyway, dinner was fun. Then dance time. Well, it turns Schroder doesn't dance, but we had fun trying to get him to. It was quite an accomplishment when we finally succeeded with about 30 minutes left of the dance. Of course, at one earlier point, Bailey did get him to jump. ("Tash, I got him to jump!") After the dance, we went to Camille's to load up on food to bring to Bailey's for the night. Once at Bailey's, we played Twister. Drunken Twister. Hahaha. It was great. Pictures will be up soon, I promise.

And now, I'm leaving, because Sex and the City starts in 15 minutes. And oh yeah, I'm going to Stanford on Thursday! I kind of wish I was going to Disney with everyone, but this will be fun, too. I want to hear all about Disney, though!

And oh yeah, last thing, I'm making a senior scrapbook for myself, so if you have senior portraits or any other pictures, send them to me!

Biology study group....yeah right. [Apr. 12th, 2005|11:53 pm]
Heh....

Bailey, Matt, and Sam came over to study biology tonight. We managed to get our essays written. But it took about 2 or 3 hours to do so. That might be because we got a little distracted with...

-squeezing a salt covered ice cube. It hurt!

-pinning me down in order to write "Balls" on my forehead. We video-taped it. Funny stuff.

-Bailey, Sam, and Matt(twice) eating whole spoonfuls of cinnamon. Matt figured out the secret.

-Bailey inhaling the cinnamon and hacking as a result of it for the rest of the night. Seriously gross.

So yeah...

That's our study group. And the funny thing is that we're one of the good groups.

My last math convention ever!!! [Apr. 8th, 2005|01:53 pm]
So I just got home from Mu Alpha Theta state convention. It was my last one, but it was AMAZINGLY FUN. Why does it always work out that the last time you do something is always the best? I have two theories: -you know it's your last time, so you go all out OR -it's just not fair. Whatever. Anyway, as a school we got 6th in overall sweepstakes, meaning we got lots of awards. I got 3rd in Integral Calculus BC, and our hustle team was 5th...one away from the finals. That is 3 years in a row that I have come in 5th in games, when top 4 move on. It's a curse. We had a killer team, too (Michael Schulz, Caitlin Hodge, Christina Andrews, and I), but supposedly there's some sort of strategy in hustle that none of us knew since none of us had ever played before. Oh well.

I ran around with Jessie Haines a lot. We were the Mu Alpha Theta bunnies. I'd tell you the story behind that....but, oh wait, I just don't want to. Heh. We made Matt honorary bunny ears for his birthday, but he totally didn't appreciate it. After that, we all headed off to the dance. It was "hawt." Literally, it was crowded and gross. Everyone was soaked with sweat by the end of the night. A couple of guys were head-banging in my vicinity, and the sweat was splashing onto me. Eeewww. But yeah, we danced a lot. I love this dance, because it's the math dance, so I don't care about looking silly with my mad dance skills. Matt got down on his knees to dance with me once, and he picked me up for another. So much fun. Good times, good times. And guess what??? We even got Camille Elizabeth Hudson to slut-dance with us!!! Sean took a picture, so the memory can live on forever and ever.

The dance ended with a DDR song that Sean knew, so he did the DDR thing, and all of Mandeville circled around him, clapping their hands and chanting "Sean, Sean, Sean." It was great. Oh yeah, we got Mrs. Disher to dance, too, courtesy of Molly, I think.

Okay, enough about math convention. Everyone thinks I'm a freak now.

In other news, I sent in my acceptance to Stanford (finally!), and I have a Stanford email address now. It's so exciting that "@stanford.edu" As excited as I am about it, though, I'm really going to miss high school and everyone here. I'm making a senior year scrapbook, which EVERYONE has to sign. I also want anyone's senior pictures who can spare one. I'll give you one of mine! Anyway, I just hope I can keep in touch with everyone. I know I will with my close friends, but what about the people that I don't see outside of school, but are really awesome??? Who knows, but I'm trying to just have fun and make some memories for now. (Cheesy, cheesy, cheesy, I know.)

Okay, well, for all you people that complain I don't update....how's that for an update? Bam! So yeah, that should do for another few weeks, right? Heh, I love you all!

So yeah.... [Mar. 3rd, 2005|06:28 pm]
So yeah, what's up? I'm back. Wisdom teeth ordeal is over. Wasn't that bad, actually. Missed some school...slept...not bad. Got my stiches out today, too, but now I have to use some stupid thing to clean out the holes for about 3 weeks. Annoying? Much. By the way, I still look like a bruised chipmunk. And trust me, EVERYONE has been kind enough to point that out. (Much love to you, guys...)

Anyway, now that wisdom teeth have passed, I'm back to having senioritis. Exams are next week, and after that...only one more quarter! Amazing! I've concocted a new plan. While I am definitely going to Stanford, I haven't sent in my acceptance letter yet, thus not requiring to withdraw applications from other universities. This way, if accepted, I can go visit and get some weekends away. It will be nice, if everything goes as planned. (i.e. I'm accepted.) I now I will be to Boston University (they already sent me a notice for multicultural weekend since I'm Hispanic and "a good candidate for admission"), but I'd rather go visit Columbia. Or maybe I'll just wait and go with Bailey over the summer. Yes, no, who knows.

Anyway, I should go do math homework. I'm caught up in AB concept-wise, but still have homework and stuff to do. But in BC...I AM SO LOST. They're referencing a bunch of stuff from last year(polar graphs, parameters), but since I didn't cover it in my math class, I have a feeling I'd be lost anyway. But yeah, I should probably fix that...

So with that, I'm off. Math, here I come. Maybe...

So about those wisdom teeth.... [Feb. 11th, 2005|10:58 pm]
For the few that haven't been involved in the CONSTANT jokes about my wisdom teeth, and therefore don't know the story....well....I didn't exactly get them out....yeah....I showed up at Dr. Kreller's office, the oral surgeon, and the minute I sat down in the seat, I just started freaking out. Literally. I was hyperventilating and shaking all over. And they're here telling me to stop, and I'm making a conscious effort to do so, but I can't! So finally, they give up and say they can't operate on me in this condition. Too many risks. Whatever. So I open my eyes, start calming down, and see the doctor putting a band-aid thing on my hand. I was like, "What's that for? I thought you couldn't get the I.V. in." The doctor said that they did actually try. Twice. And I was completely unaware. Well, anyway, that cream stuff Uncle Mike gave me to numb my hand had worked. It was just the thought of the damn I.V. that made my freak out. Oh well. So then they're telling me they're going to have to reschedule in a real hospital and all, so I'll be COMPLETELY knocked out, and I'm like, "Wait, wasn't I supposed to be completely knocked out this time, too?" So then the doctor tells me the truth: "Well, yeah, but in a hospital, if you're in this condition again, we can proceed, because if anything happens, we can take care of it in a hospital." Oh good, that was so comforting. Really. Anyway, though, I get Valium ahead of time next time, LIKE I ASKED FOR THIS TIME, but whatever. Scheduled to go into Lakeview on Feb. 25 at 2:30 p.m. Wish me luck.

I played poker tonight! I won! $120 net profit. It was awesome. They were talking about taking bets to see if I actually make it through the wisdom teeth operation next time, though. Meanies. But whatever, I showed them....by winning!

I got a letter from Stanford the other day. It was just a form letter about financial aid, but it was filled with big words! I knew them, but still, they're not in my everyday vocabulary. And form letters are usually dumbed down, too. The words were caveat and rescind. Oooo. I felt too stupid to go there for a while after that (because if those are form letter words, what are class and teacher words?), until I started visiting the Yahoo group the early admits formed. Some of them are pretty silly. One wanted one of the geniuses that must be amongst us to figure out a way to travel in time to May, so we'd be done with high school (Excellent idea, but no one had the answer). A few others were kind of computer illiterate. I feel I fit in a bit better now. Yay!

And lastly, my birthday is Wednesday the 16th! I'm so excited! I'll be 18! Woohoo!

Okay, that's it for my crazy long post.

Lots of love to everyone,
Natasha

Wisdom teeth and IV's! [Feb. 3rd, 2005|05:54 pm]
Okay, what are the odds? Lexie and I are getting our wisdom teeth out on the exact same day at the exact same time! 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, tomorrow. Not same doctor, though, because that might cause some difficulties. Anyway, I'm terrified. Not of the actual surgery. But of the IV he's putting in my hand to put me to sleep (which by the way, I'm also scared of, since I've never been put to sleep). That little needle! Ugh, I just hope I don't throw up when I see it. So yeah, anyway, no Orpheus for me. Just home and TV and whatever for 2-3 days. If anyone asks me if I'm going to Bailey's for the billionth time again, I'll scream! But yeah, I should be better by Monday for parades Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras...maybe even Sunday. I wasn't expecting to be, but Lexie said she's probably going to Bacchus. So I guess I'll see how it goes. I'm still terrified, though! *whimper*

By the way, club pictures are coming up everyone. Mu Alpha Theta is at 9:05 a.m. on February 16, which, by the way, happens to be my birthday! (No, there was no ulterior motive in mentioning club pictures. Heh.) I'm going to be 18! Woohoo! I'm trying to convince my parents to let me go clubbing, but yeah...it will be an uphill battle. Honestly, I just think it would be funny, no.. HILARIOUS, to go clubbing with Michael and whoever else.

In other news.......no wait, that was it. Unless you wanted to hear about how much I adore Kathryn Teague, since I haven't mentioned that in recent posts after it became a rule to do it every time. But whatever.

Lots of love to everyone!

The dreaded post office. [Jan. 26th, 2005|06:19 pm]
Okay, so yesterday I went to go mail something at the post office. I got a special envelope and got in line. Wait for like 8 minutes. Get to front of line.

Post Office Man: "You know, this envelope is $1.49 plus the $2.95 for postage to send it first class. If you send it Priority, it's only $3.85, so you'll save money. The envelopes are right over there. Go grab one, fill it out, and I'll squeeze you back in line."

So I do. Except I can't find the right size envelope. So I grab one and get back in line. Well, the man that was helping me chose this moment to start counting money and not take customers. So I had to stand in line another 8 minutes or so. Finally, I'm the 2nd person in line, and the old man finishes counting money. I'm like "Okay, yay, I had to wait in that huge line again, but I'll get to skip ahead of at least one person." But then,

Post Office Man: "Next!"

...He took the next person! The guy in front of me! He forgot about me! I was angry! Luckily, someone called me after another half a minute. I go up to the Post Office Lady, give her my stuff. She tells me I have the wrong envelope.

Post Office Lady: "The envelopes you need are right on top of where you got this one. Go get another one, while I take the next person in line, and I'll squeeze you back in."

(Hmmm....where had I heard that before?)

Me: "Oh, I'll just go run and get an envelope and be right back. Hold on."
Post Office Lady: "Okay, I'll just be taking the next person in line while you do that."
Me: "I'll be RIGHT back. I'll run."
Post Office Lady: "But honey, we have a very long line of people."
Me: "YES, I KNOW! I'VE ALREADY WAITED IN THE LINE TWICE!! NOW, I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!!"

......

Right, I didn't actually do that. I really, really, really wanted to though. As I was walking away and she was TAKING THE NEXT DAMN CUSTOMER, I did mouth bad words, though! Uh oh! Of course, my back was to her, so she couldn't actually see me. Oh well.

Happy New Year! [Jan. 1st, 2005|10:22 am]
Oh my gosh, I'm the first post of the new year! I totally thought someone would be dorky enough to post like within the hour after midnight. But you proved me wrong. Good job, guys!

Anyway, resolutions? Not eat like dessert/chocolate/candy every single day of the week. Maybe just like once a week. Like a treat. Like it's supposed to be! And exercise. I'm going to start going to Franco's. You totally don't believe me, but I will!

Anyway, it's been a nice break. I saw David and everyone. Got presents. Made my first turkey! Ahh! Yeah, my mom got sick on Christmas, so my dad and I had to cook everything. We were laughing as we made the turkey, because we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. But it came out good. And I made the stuffing, which Michael said was good! Before he even knew I made it! Go me! Of course, it was just the add water and boil stuff....but it was good!....Anwyay, vacation's almost over. 3 more days, including today. I have so much homework. Biology practice AP, Little Black Book, Purple Folder, normal calculus homework. I'm sad. It's supposed to be Christmas vacation! A break between semesters, and thus, no homework. But silly Mrs. Disher and Ms. Decker ruined everything. Oh well.

Well, David should be here soon, so that's it for me. Happy New Year and I wish you the best of luck in 2005, everyone! I love you!

I got in! [Dec. 16th, 2004|07:51 pm]
Oh my God! I got in! I'm in college! I won't have to go to crazy cold Northeast! I'm going to Stanford! You have no idea how happy I am! I wore my Stanford shirt yesterday, and Emery wore her Princeton sweatshirt. And we both realized how horrible next semester will be, since we're already in college. Go Stanford!
